Follow every tonne through the split.
01 / Harvest
Start with the seed cotton.
Seed cotton is the harvested material before ginning. About 340,000 t was recorded for 2024 in the programme annex. Every ribbon on this page is drawn against that one denominator.
02 / Ginning
Ginning splits lint from the rest.
The first split separates lint from a remainder labelled “seed + residual”. An assumed outturn does not establish a measured cottonseed yield, so no oilseed revenue is assigned to that branch.
03 / Allocation
Lint goes to export or to local processing.
The two branches exhaust the lint balance. At the reference allocation the local ribbon is one thread beside the raw-export band. Drag the allocation and watch the band give way to it.
04 / Local branch
The same feedstock repeats at every stage.
Yarn, fabric and garment repeat the local feedstock on a constant cotton-equivalent basis, with no assumed conversion losses. They are not measured finished-product tonnes and must never be added together.
05 / Hand-over
The local branch becomes a loom.
Straightened, the three local bands become warp threads. Below, each stage is woven across them as one weft bar, and only one of those bars can close the chain.
Raw lint exportLocal processingSeed + residual
Ribbon thickness uses one seed-cotton denominator, so a very thin local ribbon is real. Flowing dots show direction only; they do not encode throughput, transport or speed.

01 / Ginning
L = S × g / 100
Lint = seed cotton × ginning outturn. Local feedstock = lint × local share. Raw export = lint − local feedstock. Terminal gross-value index = raw export × 1 + local feedstock × selected stage multiplier. Intermediate stages are never added together.
02 / Allocation
P = L × p / 100E = L − P
P is local lint feedstock; E is raw lint export.
03 / Terminal boundary
V = E + P × mM = V / L
V is the illustrative gross index, m the selected stage index and M the weighted multiple; M is zero for an empty flow.

06 / Method · inspect the arithmetic
Mass reconciles before value is indexed.
Four equations, one card. Each step below recomposes the live balance beside it.
01 / Ginning
Lint comes from the harvest.
Seed cotton is the harvested material before ginning. The first split separates lint from a remainder labelled “seed + residual”, because an assumed outturn does not establish a measured cottonseed yield.
02 / Allocation
Allocation changes the destination, not the amount.
Lint goes to raw export or to local processing, and the two branches exhaust the balance. Yarn, fabric and garment repeat the local feedstock on a constant basis and are never added together.
03 / Terminal boundary
Only one terminal stage counts.
Each multiplier is an absolute gross-value index against raw lint at 1. Only the selected terminal value enters, because adding stages would count one material repeatedly. A lower index gives a negative uplift.
04 / Outside the bar
What the arithmetic leaves out.
No oilseed revenue is assigned, and not every non-lint tonne is assumed saleable seed. Spinning waste, weaving losses, dye uptake and cutting waste need observed factors. No currency, exchange rate, capital budget or cash flow.

01Where the figures come from
GFT programme-annex evidence R01, R02, R06 and R07. Dated figures and qualifications are recorded below; stage indices and ginning outturn are illustrative. The source register is the programme annex, prepared with the Cameroon textile programme and flagged for a source refresh in 2026.
02Grade C records
The cited entries are grade C records. A domain reference identifies the publisher, but does not establish that an underlying article was checked today.

No external article has been opened for this tool; the local source receipt states this explicitly.

Dated production references should be replaced with a reconciled annual dataset before presenting a current national balance.

Whole-chain gross-value multiple
Illustrative gross index against raw lint at 1. Costs, FX and capital sit outside it.
For a factory manager, the extra retained lint is an upstream material requirement.
It does not say how many lines to install: yarn count, fabric construction, garment weight and cutting yield are unspecified.
Read the rest
Before setting capacity, match the same annual time boundary across ginning supply, stockholding, spinning, fabric production and finishing. Record bottlenecks and seasonal availability rather than dividing annual tonnes evenly across shifts.
For an engineer, the distinction is between allocation and conversion.
Local share changes where lint goes; outturn changes how much lint exists. Neither control improves machine utilisation.

Plant losses, grid reliability, water treatment, product quality and maintenance need their own measurements. A continuous ribbon here expresses a material-accounting convention; it is not evidence of an integrated factory or an existing logistics corridor.
For an investor, gross product value is not domestic value added or cash.
Imported chemicals, machinery, energy, finance, labour, rejects and working capital can absorb much of a price increase.

The index has no exchange rate, currency price, capital budget or cash-flow schedule. It cannot establish an investable return, foreign-exchange saving or tax contribution. Use it to define a diligence question and carry the saved assumptions into a separately costed model.
