All grades

All grades. 32 records: 0 graded A, 2 graded B, 26 graded C, 4 graded D. Grade names the type of source the annex recorded.

Grade A. Official sources. No record in the supplied register carries this grade. Nothing here is backed by an official source, and the page does not fill the thread.

Grade B. Institutional or major research. R18 and R27: read the original report and keep its scope.

Grade C. Trade or local press, market-research vendor. The largest group: a recorded article or listing, not an article-open receipt.

Grade D. Unverified or missing. All 4 are references missing from the source annex, so the assertions tied to them are excluded.

Grade names the type of source. It is not a probability that a statement is correct.

Register cutoff 2026-10-30The register comes from GFT’s Cameroon textile programme, prepared 31 January 2024, with later source refreshes flagged in 2026. The cutoff is a register date: it does not make every record current, and a refresh flag is not an article-open receipt. Historical wage, trade and market records need fresh checks before a current decision.

Sentence + unit + period + boundary

Schematic, not data: a conceptual path with one real record as the example.

The anatomy of a claim

The sentence is only the start of the record.

Select each state, or scroll, to see how a reference becomes usable evidence. A stronger label cannot repair a missing source.

  1. Keep the unit, period, geography and type of claim intact. A policy target, projection, estimate and operating result are not interchangeable. A material transformation can change the denominator even when the wording still says cotton.

  3. The supplied grade describes source type. It is not a probability that a statement is correct. The same publisher can publish a forecast, an interview and an observed statistic, each with different limits. Keep the source date and qualification beside the claim.

  4. Where an important premise remains uncertain, collect stronger evidence before relying on it. Keep missing records visible as research work. A gap in the source chain should restrict the claim rather than be hidden by an attractive chart or an exact-looking model.

A denominator changes the story

Fibre is not seed cotton. A target is not output.

Choose which quantity to read

Approximately the share of cotton fibre exported raw, recorded in R06, against about 5 percent processed locally.

The annex records a national local-processing target of 50 percent by 2030. That is a policy objective, not a present processing share, a demand level or GFT’s delivered production.

No ratio is recorded for seed cotton. Applying the raw-export share to seed-cotton tonnage needs a separate ginning conversion assumption, and that assumption has to stay explicit.

95%

of cotton fibre exported raw, about

01 · Material denominator

The programme context concerns cotton fibre. Seed-cotton production sits on a different material basis. The same discipline applies to ambition: a target tells a reader where a policy aims, not where the industry stands or what any single operator has produced.

02 · Conversion rule

The graphic is schematic. Read the source wording before deriving a quantity, and carry the conversion inputs with the calculation. Hand-over: the axis bends right into the source-hierarchy routes below.

A source can support a narrower sentence

Make uncertainty visible before it becomes a model input.

An official release, research paper and trade report have different roles. Where an article reports another organisation’s figure, seek the original before making a decision depend on it. Preserve the secondary route when it explains how the figure entered the programme.

Different estimates can reflect scope, period, currency or market definition. Do not average them to create apparent agreement. Name the difference and decide which boundary fits the question. A range stays more useful than false precision when the definitions differ.

A sector statistic cannot prove a factory’s result. A technology benchmark cannot establish detection performance on a new fabric. Define the local comparator, capture method and acceptance condition before claiming an improvement. Keep adverse observations as part of the record.

The register sits inside GFT’s Cameroon textile programme of 3 parts: a feasibility study, a performance-management system design and a digital strategy. Read the programme context.
